Chiesa dei Santi Fabiano e Sebastiano

L’antica chiesa, citata con il castello in una bolla di Alessandro III del 1178, era dedicata a San Geminiano o San Gemignano, santo longobardo. Nella visita pastorale del 1468 troviamo citata la chiesa dei santi Fabiano e Sebastiano in San Gimignanello. L’edificio attuale risale alla riedificazione voluta dai Sansedoni nel 1771. L’attuale facciata è di forme classiche, con portale coronato da timpano triangolare con stemma. Sull’altare maggiore vi era una bella tela raffigurante la «Madonna col Bambino e i Santi Fabiano e Sebastiano», di recente trafugata.

This ancient church, mentioned with the castle in a bull of Alexander III of 1178, was dedicated to San Geminiano or San Gemignano, a Lombard saint. In the pastoral visit of 1468 we find mentioned the church of Saints Fabiano and Sebastiano in San Gimignanello. The current building dates back to the rebuilding commissioned by the Sansedoni in 1771. The current facade is of classical shapes, with a portal crowned by a triangular tympanum with a coat of arms. On the main altar there was a beautiful canvas depicting the “Madonna with Child and Saints Fabiano and Sebastian”, recently stolen.
